(BSc Physiotherapy, MCSP)
It was Jenny’s love of physical activity that first drove her towards becoming a physio. Developing a special interest in chronic pain has made her passionate about empowering people. Helping them to take control of their own recovery and start moving again by harnessing the awesome combined power of the body and mind.
Since qualifying as a physiotherapist, Jenny has gained experience across a number of NHS, private and occupational health sectors. While working as the lead physiotherapist at London Fire Brigade she was involved in the creation, implementation and running of an award-winning Functional Rehabilitation Programme. This helped firefighters return to active duty following injury.
The success of this and similar programmes has confirmed the impact that stress, anxiety, general de-conditioning, poor sleep and pain perception can have on people’s recovery. This fuelled the creation of The Back Plan to offer a truly patient-centred treatment approach.
Jenny’s passion for exercise and the outdoors has led her to complete the Three Peaks Challenge, a London to Paris cycle ride and a half-Ironman for her favourite charity. She is always looking for a new challenge and has recently followed her dream by moving to north Cornwall to combine work with living close to the sea and surf.

Vanessa has always loved learning about the body, how it works and how to maximise its potential. She completed a Bachelor of Physical Education where she became passionate about fitness and rehabilitation. This passion grew stronger after Vanessa broke her leg snowboarding and had to put all she had learned in her studies into practice. With the help of Pilates she gradually returned to snowboarding, running and other sports she loved. In 2008 and 2009 she ran sub-4 marathons in London and Rome.
During this time, Vanessa completed her Masters in Physiotherapy and over the past 7 years she has worked as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist in professional sporting environments, the NHS and Occupational Health settings. She has a special interest in back pain and believes in holistic, personalised and progressive treatment.
Growing up in New Zealand and living in London meant Vanessa used Skype to frequently communicate with her friends and family who live all over the world. Inevitably conversation included various pain management or rehabilitation techniques which could be easily taught online. This combined with her love of helping people overcome their injuries, pain or condition led to the creation of The Back Plan.
